Abstract

Composite closure cap for sealing containers, container type having a radially outward projecting rim on its outer edge, characterized in that it comprises in combination a plastic molded ring having a cover annular portion and a dependent skirt portion extending downward, the cover part and the skirt part being joined together by a corner portion; means projecting inwardly into the skirt portion to join the rim of the container, the covered part, the corner part and the skirt part cooperating with the container contacting means to form an inward facing channel; a metallic and circular closure cap placed within said plastic ring with a dependent outer skirt received within the channel and with an outer annular portion in conjunction with the bottom of the cap portion of the plastic ring, and a sealing gasket in the underside of the lid to join the rim of the container.
