Procedimiento mejorado para producir furfural por digestión con vapor de agua de un material bruto que contiene pentosanos en presencia de un catalizador ácido no-volátil, caracterizado porque dicho material bruto, antes de dicha digestión, se somete al flujo de vapor de agua a su través a una presión de vapor de agua menor que la necesaria para producir la digestión de dicho material bruto.
