Abstract
A filtering body, such as a paper or mat, comprises fibrous material consisting mainly of cellulose fibres uniformly mixed with a major amount, e.g. 60 to 90% computed on the dry weight of the body, of diatomaceous earth, the fibrous material having been beaten to such an extent that the cellulose fibres hold and bind the diatomaceous earth and render the body physically stable. The body may also comprise a small amount, e.g. 10% of asbestos fibres. The surfaces of the body may be provided with flow-channels. Specification 764,911, is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
