The present invention refers to a container for packaging and displaying products and a method of forming it.

Containers for packaging and displaying food products, cosmetic products, pharmaceuticals, etc. They are known to be normally made of paper and cardboard and comprise two open die-cut elements.

The first die-cut element constitutes the base of the container, is known as a tray and is provided with two lateral protuberances and two central tabs designed to contain the product.

This base is originally associated with a superior die-cut element, which constitutes the packaging of the container for easy transport and shipping.

Containers of this type are produced in two production cycles: one is intended to package the base or tray and insert the packages into it, and the other refers to closing the container with the upper open die-cut element, which of course is removed when the products are to be shown.

The provision of this container therefore entails a very complicated production cycle, with two subcycles that overlap when the box is to be closed.

In addition to logistical problems, all this also involves an investment in machinery necessary to provide the lower open die cut element, insert the products into it, provide the upper open die cut element and match the two die cut elements in order to close the container by means of a capping machine

A problem related to the provision and closure of such a container refers to production times, which cannot be competitive in view of what has been said.

In addition, the combination of the two subcycles is not always easy and simple, also causing problems in terms of space as well as in terms of timing of the various production steps.

FR 2 887 529 A1 shows a corrugated cardboard box formed by two different stamped sheets, including a first stamped sheet constructed to form a tray forming base and a second stamped sheet constructed to form an upper side cardboard cover.

The objective of the present invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks in known types of containers for packaging and displaying products, which makes it possible to simplify and accelerate the packaging of products in the box.

Within this objective, an object of the invention is to provide a container for packaging and displaying products and a method for forming it that makes it possible to reduce the costs for the production of the container and the packaging of the packages to be displayed.

Another object of the invention is to provide a container for packaging and displaying products that is of the type with a tray and a lid.

Another object of the invention is to provide a container for packaging and displaying products by means that are easily and commercially available and using commonly available materials, so that the device is economically competitive.

According to the invention, a container for packaging and displaying products is provided as defined in the attached claim 1.

With reference to the figures, a container for packaging and displaying products according to the invention, generally designated by reference number 1, comprises a laminar element.

A particularity of the container is that the laminar element comprises at least two parts, one of which is at least partially superimposed on the other and which can be mutually separated.

Advantageously, the first of these two parts comprises a tray 3, which has a base 2 that is connected, on two mutually opposite sides, to at least two lateral protrusions 7.

Advantageously, each of these lateral protrusions 7 has means 5 for separable association with two lateral containment elements 4 of the second part.

These separable association means 5 can for example consist of glue points (see Figures 1-6) or by a button that can be paired with a slot (see Figures 7, 8 and 9)

Preferably, at least one of the two lateral containment elements 4 is connected to an upper cover 8. This connection is made on the flap opposite the position of the lateral protrusions 7.

Advantageously, the sheet element comprises at least one sealing element 10 for the container.

An exemplary embodiment provides for the connection of the element 10 to the upper cover 8; Another embodiment may have the sealing element 10 connected to one of the containment elements 4. It is also possible to provide two sealing elements 10, for example one connected to the upper cover 8 and the other connected to the element 4 to be paired with the cover 8.

Normally, the base 2 has two front and rear containment protuberances 12, which are arranged mutually opposite on the two sides that are adjacent to the lateral protuberances 7.

To facilitate the closing of the box, there are a pair of lateral fins 11 connected to each of the lateral protrusions 7.

Each of the containment elements 4, connected to the base 2, can have a pair of mutually opposite external fins 6, which are connected to the elements 4 on the two sides that are adjacent to the base 2.

The cover 8, which as mentioned is connected to one of the two lateral containment elements 4, can comprise a pair of mutually opposite closing fins 9, which are arranged on the sides that are adjacent to the element 4.

To facilitate the folding of each individual part of the die-cut element (or die-cut elements), a series of folds has been provided:

 a first fold 21 in the joint between the base 2 and the lateral containment elements 4;

 a second fold 22 between the lateral protuberances 7 and the fins 11;

 a third fold 23 between the base 2 and the containment protuberances 12;

 a fourth fold 24 between the element 4 and the top cover 8;

a fifth fold 25 in the joint between the closing fins 9 and the cover 8;

 a sixth fold 26 between the outer fins 6 and the containment elements 4;

-

 a seventh fold 27 between the sealing element 10 and the element 4 to which it is connected (or between the element 10 itself and the top cover 8 in the solution shown in Figure 9).

The method for forming and filling a container for packaging and displaying products 1 has a particularity that consists in folding two lateral containment elements 4 on a base 2 of a laminar element that is detachably associated there, to provide a substantially U-shaped configuration of the container, in introducing the products to be packaged and shown supporting them in the base 2, in folding the upper cover 8, which is connected to at least one of these two lateral containment elements 4, in sealing the container by means of a sealing element 10 which is connected to the laminar element.

Advantageously, there is a separable separation of at least two parts of the container formed by the folding of the laminar element.

Preferably, said separable separation consists in separating the two lateral containment elements 4 from the lateral protrusions 7 connected to the mutually opposite edges of the base 2: in this way it is possible to show the products inserted inside the container 1.

The folding operations of the lateral containment elements 4, the cover 8, the fins 6, 9 and 12, the pair of fins 11 and the other components occur along profiles formed by the folds 21, 22, 23, 24 , 25, 26 and 27.

Normally, simultaneously with the folding of the outer fins, folding of the projecting fins also takes place and consists of folding the fin 12 along the fold 23 and subsequently the pair of fins 11 along the folds 22.

From what has been described above it is therefore evident that the invention achieves the objective and the intended objects, and in particular the fact that a container for packaging and displaying products and a method for forming it are provided that allow Faster packaging and sample of the products inside the box, simplifying its closure.

In particular, connecting the base or tray to the lateral containment elements and the lid makes it possible to have a single linear production cycle, allowing the removal of the capping machine.

Another advantage of the invention is that the elimination of a machine such as the capping machine and the acceleration and simplification of the steps to package the container allow a considerable reduction in production costs.

Another advantage of the container according to the invention allows the products to be packaged within the container in a more compact space, ensuring better logistics and limiting production costs.

Another advantage of the container for packaging and displaying products is that it manages to package the products in a type of packaging that the market demands strongly, allowing for cheaper, faster and easier handling production.

Another advantage of the invention is that it allows the user to store the tray and lid that constitute the container using a single reference instead of two.
