Abstract
Process for the production of a gaseous mixture containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen, from a carbonaceous fuel, comprising reacting said fuel with a gas containing free oxygen in a reaction zone, to produce a gas stream formed by carbon monoxide and hydrogen and containing free carbon entrained; intimately contacting said gas stream with water in a washing zone to effect removal of the carbon from said gas stream and obtain a dispersion of the carbon in the water, removing said dispersion from said washing zone; intimately contacting said dispersion with a liquid hydrocarbon to transfer the carbon of said dispersion to said liquid hydrocarbon and reacting said liquid hydrocarbon containing said carbon with a gas containing free oxygen.
