Process for obtaining urea characterized by comprising the dehydration of a molten urea product containing about 10% to 30% by weight of water, the remainder being essentially urease and is at a temperature of 95º to 143º c. Approximately to obtain a molten urea containing no more of 15% by weight of water and by evaporating the molten urea in such a way that the pressure of the water vapor on the molten urea is greater than the pressure of the water vapor that would balance the molten urea at its crystallization temperature as evaporation proceeds but no more of 20mm. Of mercury higher than the aforesaid equilibrium pressure of water vapor when the concentration of water thus minimizes the formation of biuret in the urea molten thereby evaporated while avoiding the formation of urea crystals during evaporation.
