Una ventaja adicional del sistema de múltiples capas reivindicado es su resistencia al impacto frente a una carga mecánica, presión, formación de muescas, cortes y mordeduras, incluyendo el ataque de roedores o termitas o similares, que es otra ventaja para el propósito de aislamiento al aire libre.

En los siguientes ejemplos y ejemplos comparativos las espumas requeridas se adquirieron en el mercado (NH = NH/Armaflex®, AF = AF/Armaflex®, HT = HT/Armaflex®, Armacell GmbH, Münster; PET: PET ArmaFORM®, Armacell 10 Benelux S.A., Thimister-Clermont; GF = tejido de fibra de vidrio, Style 461, P-D Interglas Technologies Ltd., Sherborne; MG = gasa metálica, tejida en rejilla, tamaño de malla de 0,34 mm, diámetro del alambre de 0,16 mm, Beissermetall®, Magstadt) o se fabrican según los procedimientos del estado de la técnica para muestras de 25 mm de grosor. Las capas protectoras se colocaron sobre las partes de espuma mediante una presión ligera y constante utilizando adhesivos o similares que estaban disponibles en el mercado (Adhesive 520, Armacell GmbH, Münster).
15 En el caso de los ejemplos comparativos, las capas se aplicaron de la manera más próxima posible al procesamiento dado a conocer por la bibliografía respectiva. El grosor de la lámina de aluminio utilizada en los siguientes ejemplos es de 15 µm.
