Homeoproteína, cuyo homeodominio posee, como mínimo, 98% de identidad de secuencia con los residuos 38-97 de la secuencia SEQ ID NO: 1 y contiene un residuo de lisina en posición 50, y cuya secuencia polipeptídica global posee, como mínimo, 90% de identidad con la secuencia SEQ ID NO: 1 o con la secuencia SEQ ID NO: 2, para la utilización como medicamento para la prevención o tratamiento de la degeneración de las neuronas ganglionares de la retina.
