Abstract

Un método de tratamiento de una corriente de residuos obtenida a partir de un proceso para la producción de bisfenol-A, comprendiendo el método: (a) poner en contacto la corriente de residuos con una solución acuosa de una base en condiciones eficaces para hidrolizar al menos parte de dicha corriente de residuos en acetona y fenol y producir una corriente efluente; (b) recuperar la acetona de la corriente efluente para producir una corriente de fase mixta que contiene fenol que está sustancialmente libre de acetona y que contiene agua y compuestos orgánicos pesados sin hidrolizar; (c) tratar la corriente de fase mixta que contiene fenol con un disolvente orgánico inmiscible con agua para extraer fenol y compuestos orgánicos pesados sin hidrolizar en dicho disolvente y producir una fase orgánica que contiene dicho disolvente, fenol y compuestos aromáticos pesados sin hidrolizar y una fase acuosa con concentraciones reducidas de fenol y compuestos orgánicos pesados sin hidrolizar; y (d) recuperar al menos parte del fenol y el disolvente orgánico de la fase orgánica.
