Shower drain

The invention relates to a shower drain, comprising:

a plate with a bottom surface and a vertical edge along the bottom surface, where a drain opening is disposed on the bottom surface;

at least one flexible sheet disposed outside the plate along a part of the vertical edge.

Document DE-U-202007003376 describes a drain according to the preamble of claim 1.

The term "shower drain" is a term generally used in the prior art, and used for drains used for example in bass rooms. Said shower drain is often elongated but can also be square, round or triangular.

When a shower drain is arranged on a floor of, for example, a shower space or a bathroom, it is necessary that the connection of the floor to the drain is water tight and that this water tightness also remains guaranteed for a long time. period. For this purpose it is usual to have a flexible sheet on the floor that adheres firmly to the shower drain. Then a layer of tiles is arranged on the flexible sheet. In order to connect the sheet to the plate of a shower drain it is usual that said plate is provided all around with wide flanges that provide an adhesive surface and on which the flexible sheet can be fixedly adhered.

During the installation of the shower drain the installer must glue the flexible sheet to the work. The drawback is that the conditions during the installation of a shower drain are usually not ideal for gluing. The glue layer can be adversely affected by a large amount of dust, so the adhesion of the glue to the flexible sheet leaves something to be desired. This can result in long-term leaks.

When a shower drain is installed near a wall, the usual flange on which the flexible sheet adheres then forms an obstacle. This flange has a certain width, so the shower drain will always stop at a distance from the wall. It is possible to shorten the flange in this position, although the bonding area is therefore reduced in size, which can also have a negative effect on the quality of adhesion of the sheet

flexible to the flange.

Now an object of the invention is to provide a shower drain where the drawbacks indicated above

be relieved or even obviated.

This object is achieved with a shower drain according to the preamble that is characterized in that the part of the vertical edge is a folded edge, wherein the at least one flexible sheet is held between the folded edge. Since the sheet is now fixedly held by a folded edge, it can now have an appropriate quality control of the connection of the flexible sheet during the manufacture of the shower drain, and a good seal can be guaranteed. In addition, the use of a flange to which the flexible sheet is bonded in the prior art becomes unnecessary, whereby a shower drain according to the invention can be arranged against a wall and therefore is no longer limited by the width of the flange. An additional advantage is that the depth of the shower drain in the floor can no longer be limited by the projecting horizontal flange. In the prior art this horizontal flange must be under the tile layer. When thick tiles are used, in the prior art it is possible that the shower drain is below the upper surface of the finished tile floor. In a shower drain according to the invention the flexible sheet can be arranged in such a way that the thickness of the tiles no longer affects the height of the shower drain in the floor.

In a preferred embodiment of the shower drain according to the invention, the plate is made of sheet steel, in particular stainless steel sheet.

In another embodiment of the shower drain according to the invention the flexible sheet is a water-tight fabric. Said water-tight fabric is universally used in the manufacture of bathroom floors and shower floors, and is particularly suitable for the water-tight finish of the floor. It can also hold, for example, lead or bitumen.

In a preferred embodiment, the folded edge is an outwardly folded edge. The folded edge also has the advantage of improving the finish of the plate. The curvature of the edge creates a rounded upper edge.

Preferably the folded part is against the vertical edge. The flexible sheet is thus held along the entire width of the folded edge, and as the folded edge bumps along a large area, a firm connection of the flexible part with the plate is obtained.

In even another embodiment of the shower drain according to the invention the folded edge comprises a horizontal flange directed outwards. Preferably this horizontal flange is only a few millimeters wide and provides protection for the flexible fabric that runs underneath. When a shower drain is disposed on a tiled floor, a silicone seal must be provided to the transition between the tiles and the shower drain. This silicone seal should be replaced every few years, and this usually takes place by cutting the silicone edge. By now providing a small horizontal flange, the blade, with which the silicone edge is cut, is prevented from damaging the flexible blade.

In even another embodiment of the shower drain according to the invention the lower surface is rectangular. At least two flexible sheets are preferably arranged here on two adjacent sides of the plate, where each flexible sheet is held by the associated folded edge, and at least one flexible sheet is partially held by an adjacent folded edge. This results in a good seal in the corner position of a rectangular shower drain.

This drain can optionally also be applied as an industrial drain.

Figure 1 shows a shower drain 1 according to the invention. The shower drain 1 has a lower surface

2 and a vertical wall 3 along the periphery of the lower surface 2. On one side of the surface 2 the edge

vertical 3 has a folded part 4 between which a flexible sheet 5 is held. This flexible sheet holder is already

carried out during the manufacture of the shower drain 1, so that the flexible sheet no longer has to stick

during the installation of the shower drain. During the manufacture of the shower drain 1 the flexible sheet can optionally be glued against the vertical wall 3, after which it is fixedly held by the folded edge 4.

Figure 2 shows a second embodiment 10 of the shower drain according to the invention. This shower drain 10 has a lower surface 11 with a vertical edge 12. The vertical edge 12 has a folded edge 13 between which a flexible fabric 14 is fastened. A horizontal flange 15 is arranged at the end of the folded edge 13. When the shower drain 11 is arranged in a subfloor 16 and the tiles 17 are arranged against the shower drain 10, it is essential that the space between the tile 17 and the folded edge 13 be filled with a silicone putty. This putty should be replaced every few years and then cut out of this space. The flange 15 now ensures that the flexible fabric 14, which runs here under the flange, cannot be damaged by means of a knife.

Figure 3 shows a third embodiment 20 of the shower drain according to the invention. Here also the shower drain 20 has a lower surface 21 with a vertical edge 22. This vertical edge 22 is specially designed so that the shower drain 20 can be arranged against the wall 23. The tiles 24 are placed in the horizontal part 25 of the vertical edge 22.

Here also in the vertical edge 22 a folded part 26 is provided between which a flexible sheet 27 is held. This flexible sheet provides a good seal of the shower drain 20 with respect to the wall 23 and the floor 28.

Figure 4 shows a fourth embodiment of a shower drain 30 according to the invention. This shower drain 30 has a bottom surface 31 that is rectangular. The vertical edges 32, 33 and 34 are arranged along the bottom surface 31. Each vertical edge has an associated folded edge portion 35, 36 and 37, respectively.

A flexible sheet 38, 39, 40 is arranged under each part of folded edge 35, 36, 37. The flexible sheet 39 is not only held under the folded edge 36 but also under the folded edges 35 and 37 of the vertical edges 32, 34. This results in a good seal in the corner position of a rectangular plate 30.

Figure 5 shows a fifth embodiment of a shower drain 45 according to the invention. This shower drain 45 also has a bottom surface 46, a vertical edge 47 and a folded edge 48. A flexible sheet 49 is secured between the vertical edge 47 and the folded edge 48.

In this embodiment, the shower drain 45 is placed in a subfloor 50 in which relatively thick tiles 51 are placed. The thickness of the tiles 51 is here larger than the height of the shower drain 45. As a flexible sheet 49 is now arranged, it is possible to have the upper side of the shower drain 45 flush with the upper surface of the tile 51. For this purpose the flexible sheet 49 first runs downwards along the length of the tile 51 and then horizontally under tile 51.

Shower drain (1, 10, 20, 30, 45), comprising: a plate with a lower surface (2, 11, 21, 31, 46) and a vertical edge (3, 12, 22, 32-34, 47) along the lower surface (2, 11, 21, 31, 46), wherein a drain opening is disposed on the bottom surface (2, 11,21,31,46); at least one flexible sheet (5, 14, 27, 38-40, 49) arranged outside the plate along a part of the vertical edge (3, 12, 22, 32-34, 47); characterized in that the part of the vertical edge (3, 12, 22, 32-34, 47) is a folded edge (4, 13, 26, 35-37, 48), where the at least one flexible sheet (5, 14, 27, 38-40, 49) is held between the folded edge (4, 13, 26, 35-37, 47). 10 2.
