Abstract

Un método mejorado para producir una alfa-olefina descomponiendo catalíticamente un precursor de metil-octiléter, en donde la mejora comprende usar una composición catalítica que comprende un sustrato de gamma-alúmina dopado con al menos un elemento seleccionado de bismuto, cobre, galio, fósforo, estaño, y cinc, estando una cantidad de cada elemento en un intervalo de 150 partes por millón a 1.000 partes por millón, con respecto al peso total del sustrato de gamma-alúmina dopado para descomponer catalíticamente el precursor de metil-octil-éter y aumentar el rendimiento de la alfa-olefina, mejorando la selectividad por la alfa-olefina y/o la conversión del metiloctil- éter a una pureza de alfa-olefina deseada, con respecto al sustrato de gamma-alúmina sin dopar.
