Abstract

Un dispositivo para recoger y estabilizar sangre o un componente de la misma, donde el dispositivo tiene un primer extremo y un segundo extremo y al menos una pared interior que define una parte de depósito para recibir sangre, en el que el depósito contiene un agente de estabilización de la sangre que comprende a) variegina que tiene la secuencia de aminoácidos designada SEQ ID NO: 1, o un análogo de la misma tal como el análogo de variegina que es un fragmento de la SEQ ID NO: 1 y que se selecciona de las SEQ ID NO: 2-5, o el análogo de variegina que se designa SEQ ID NO: 6; o b) un disacárido polisulfatado, preferentemente octasulfato de sacarosa, o una combinación de los mismos, cada uno en una cantidad eficaz para estabilizar la sangre o un componente de la misma, en el que la variegina designada SEQ ID NO: 1 o el análogo de la misma pueden estar presentes en el dispositivo en una concentración de aproximadamente 1 μM a aproximadamente 1 mM, y en el que el disacárido polisulfatado puede estar presente en el dispositivo en una concentración de aproximadamente 50 μM a aproximadamente 50 mM.
