Abstract
Un procedimiento para purificación del tetracloruro crudo de carbono, caracterizado por el hecho de añadirse cloro al tetracloruro de carbono en cantidad suficiente para convertir la totalidad de los compuestos de azufre en hexacloruro sulfúrico, reaccionándose con los compuestos de azufre citados para producir hexacloruro sulfúrico, agitándose el material purificado con cloro con solución alcalina, obteniéndose la extracción del hexacloruro sulfúrico del tetracloruro de carbono; el cual, después de la separación de la solución alcalina, se trata con cloro y luz para convertir el cloroformo presente en tetracloruro de carbono, lavándose el material tratado en una solución alcalina, para extraer el cloruro de hidrógeno formado durante la fotocloración, y separándose el tetracloruro purificado de carbono, de la solución alcalina.
