Abstract

8. Tampón periódico.1. Periodic tampon used by women as an internal protective lining with respect to menstrual flows, said tampon consisting of a roll of compressed fibrous material, the outer wall of which is at least partially covered by a layer of at least one thickening or gelling agent, characterized by the fact that the thickening or gelling agent used is made up of polysaccharides extracted from plants taken from the group formed by guar gum, locust bean gum, tara gum, gum arabic, gum tragacanth, karaya gum, agar-agar, carrageenans and psyllium. 2. Periodic tampon, according to claim 1, characterized in that the thickening or gelling agent layer is arranged on the side wall of the tampon. 3. Periodic tampon, according to claim 2, the side wall of said tampon comprising folds arranged parallel to the axis of said tampon, characterized by the fact that the layer of thickening or gelling agent is arranged on the side wall of the tampon, outside the folds. 4. Periodic buffer, according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the layer of thickening or gelling agent is obtained by coating, by means of an aqueous solution containing by weight, approximately 1 to 10 percent of the said agent, either of the fibrous layer intended to constitute the periodic tampon, and or of the periodic tampon itself after the rolling of the fibrous layer on itself, before or after the compression of the roll thus formed. 5. Periodic buffer, according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the thickening or gelling agent layer also contains a plasticizing agent. 6. Periodic buffer, according to claim 5, characterized in that the plasticizing agent used is glycerol. 7. Periodic tampon, according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the layer of thickening or gelling agent has a thickness between 1 g/m2 and 100 g/m2, the surface being located on the tampon in compressed state. 8. Periodic buffer.
