Un inserto de corte (100) para uso en una fresa que comprende: dos superficies de extremo opuestas idénticas (102a, 102b), estando provista cada superficie de extremo de una superficie de tope (104); una superficie periférica lateral (110) que se extiende entre las dos superficies de extremo opuestas (102a, 102b), comprendiendo la superficie lateral periférica dos superficies laterales mayores opuestas (112a, 112b), dos superficies laterales menores opuestas (114a, 114b) y superficies laterales de esquina (116a, 116b, 116c, 116d) situadas entre las superficies laterales mayores y menores adyacentes; un borde periférico (120a, 120b) formado en la intersección de cada superficie de extremo (102a, 102b) y la superficie lateral periférica (110); cada superficie de extremo (102a, 102b) tiene cuatro esquinas (130a, 130b, 130c, 130d) incluyendo dos esquinas rebajadas diagonalmente opuestas (130a, 130d) y dos esquinas elevadas diagonalmente opuestas (130b, 130c), estando las esquinas rebajadas (130a, 130d) más cerca que las esquinas elevadas (130b, 130c) de un plano mediano (M) del inserto de corte cuyo plano mediano (M) pasa a través de las superficies laterales mayores y menores (112a, 112b, 114a, 114b) y está a medio camino entre las superficies de extremo (102a, 102b); en el que: al menos un borde periférico (120a) comprende dos conjuntos de bordes de corte, comprendiendo cada conjunto de bordes de corte: un borde de corte (140b) de esquina elevada relacionado con una primera superficie lateral de esquina (116b); un borde de corte principal (142b) adyacente al borde de corte (140b) de esquina elevada y que se extiende a lo largo de una primera superficie lateral principal (112b); un borde de corte (140a) de esquina rebajada relacionado con una segunda superficie lateral de esquina (116a), compartiendo la segunda superficie lateral (116a) de esquina y la primera superficie lateral (116b) de esquina la primera superficie lateral menor (114b); caracterizado por que cada conjunto de bordes de corte comprende además un borde rascador (144b) de esquina elevada adyacente al borde de corte (140b) de esquina elevada y que se extiende a lo largo de una primera superficie lateral menor (114b) que comparte la primera superficie lateral (116b) de esquina con la primera superficie lateral principal (112b); un borde rascador (146a) de esquina rebajada adyacente al borde de corte (140a) de esquina rebajada y que se extiende a lo largo de la primera superficie lateral menor (114b) hacia el borde rascador (144b) de esquina elevada ; en el que cada superficie lateral de esquina (116a, 116b, 116c, 116d) está provista de una depresión de holgura cóncava (150) que se extiende desde el borde de corte (140a) de esquina rebajada , más allá del plano mediano (M), y en una dirección, pero sin intersecarse, con un borde de corte (130b) de esquina elevada vinculado al borde periférico opuesto (120b), formando la depresión de holgura cóncava (150) una superficie de alivio (152) para el borde de corte (140a) de esquina rebajada y siendo visible tanto en una vista lateral principal como en una vista lateral secundaria del inserto de corte.
