Abstract

Un cable que contiene un conductor, una cinta ignífuga, preferiblemente en el que la cinta ignífuga está fabricada de fibra de vidrio tejida impregnada con un retardante del fuego sin plomo, sin halógeno, y sin antimonio, y opcionalmente en el que la cinta ignífuga tiene un espesor de menos de 0,254 mm (10 mil), y un aislamiento que tiene un espesor de más de 1,9 mm (75 mil), estando el aislamiento fabricado de una composición sin plomo, sin halógeno, y sin antimonio que comprende a) una poliolefina; b) una poliolefina modificada con anhídrido maleico; c) un copolímero de butadieno-estireno; d) un retardante del fuego no halógeno; y e) un compuesto de silano.

La resistencia al aislamiento a largo plazo (LTIR) a 90 ºC se midió de acuerdo con la norma UL 44 (2010). El aumento de la permisividad/capacitancia relativas a 90 ºC se midió de acuerdo con lla norma UL 44 (2010).

Una composición idéntica a IB (excepto que el peróxido se aumentó a 2,3 partes en peso) se seleccionó para la prueba contra el fuego UL. Dos muestras de cables (1/0 AWG) se fabricaron con la composición de aislamiento a un espesor de 80 mil, y se probaron de acuerdo con la norma UL 1685 (2007). El resultado de la prueba se resume en

Ejemplo 2
15 Se hicieron dos tipos de cable como se indica a continuación:
1) Cable A: Un conductor de cobre de 1/0 AWG (19 filamentos, estañado) se envolvió con una cinta separadora Mylar de 5 mil. Se extruyeron dos capas de aislamiento sobre la cinta Mylar. La capa interna del aislamiento tenía un espesor de 1,4 mm (55 mil), mientras que la capa exterior del aislamiento tenía un espesor de 1,14 mm (45 mil).
20 2) Cable B: Idéntico a la Construcción A, excepto que la cinta Mylar se reemplazó por POWERLINE® Cloth tapes NEPTAPE® NTS185. Las dos capas de aislamiento son idénticas y contienen los mismos ingredientes que IB en la Tabla 1 (con excepción que el peróxido se aumentó a 2,3 partes en peso).
Ambos Cables A y B se ensayaron de acuerdo con la norma UL 1685 (2007). El resultado de la prueba se resume 25 en la Tabla 4.
