Abstract

A socket connector has, for instance, two rows of contact cavities (4), each of which can receive a pin contact (5) of complementary plug contact. Each contact cavity contains a contact spring (3) having an upper contact-making portion bent to one side and pretensioned so lion that it is urged against one wall of the contact cavity. The contact spring has a widened mid-portion for retaining the contact spring in the cavity, and a terminal pin (9), e.g. a wire-wrap terminal. The contact cavity has a guide groove (15) on the wall against which the contact-making end of the contact spring (3) is urged which groove is narrower than the contact-making end of the contact spring (3). However, this groove is of such a size as to guide a contact pin from the complementary connector, the groove being shallow so that a good contact pressure results.
