A method for devolatilizing a non-devolatilized polymer composition containing unpolymerized monomer and low molecular weight, volatile polymers among its volatile constituents, which comprises supplying the non-devolatilized polymer composition, at a devolatilization temperature to a closed devolatilization chamber, having a surface of condensation in it; maintaining the condensing surface in said chamber at a temperature which is higher than the condensation temperature of the monomer in the volatile constituents escaping the polymer composition which is being devolatilized, but not above a condensation temperature for the fugitive polymers of low molecular weight in said volatile constituents that escape under the pressure in said chamber; removing vapors of substantially pure monomers from said chamber; removing from said condensing surface in said chamber, in liquid form, the low molecular weight polymers that have been condensed from said volatile constituents, and removing devolatilized polymer product from said chamber.
