Abstract

Improvements made to the object of main patent no. 258,727, that is, in a device for mixing a liquid and a gas in desired proportions, comprising: a box having an inlet and an outlet through which, in operation, a stream of gas placed to pressure, the box having an internal partition located in the flow path between the inlet and the outlet and containing an annular valve seat: the device also comprising a valve member that can be applied to the seat and arranged to be lifted from it against a load due to the flow of gas through the box, the load being such that it produces a pressure drop in the gas flowing through the seat to thereby produce a mixture of gas and liquid of the desired proportions, characterized in that the valve member is mounted on a guide rod having a longitudinal passage therein which communicates at the end thereof remote from the valve member with a source of liquid at substantial pressure equal to the pressure of the gas upstream of the valve seat and at its other end with a hole in the valve member, the hole being arranged to discharge liquid into the gas stream in a region of reduced pressure produced by the flow of gas beyond of the seat.
