Abstract

A dispenser for toothpaste consists of a cylindrical housing 1 having a nozzle 3 and supported on a base in the form of a resiliently compressible cup 5. A rod 13, attached to the cup 5, extends towards the nozzle 3 and a piston 17 is slidable on the rod 13. The piston carries a steel star ring 21 which can grip the rod 13 and the wall of the housing 1. Compression of the cup 5 causes the rod 13 to move the piston 17 towards the nozzle 3 thereby forcing paste through the nozzle 3, and relaxation of the compression allows the rod 13 to slide back through the piston 17 which in turn remains stationary within the housing 1. A regular amount of paste can be dispensed by each compression of the cup 5.
