Abstract

The invention proceeds from a device for sealing off a pressure vessel, especially a piston bore (2) of a floating caliper disc brake, in which an operating piston is carried in a cylinder bore (2) of a housing (1) forming a seal. The operating piston can be displaced by a hydraulic pressure, one end face of the operating piston defining a working chamber (3) to which pressure can be admitted. A second boundary of the working chamber (3) is formed by a cover (4) which seals the cylinder bore (2) pressure tight, a sealing ring (10) being arranged between the cover (4) and the housing (1). In order to prevent air inclusions in the quench space (6) accommodating the seal (10) and with a view to ease of venting the brake arrangement, it is proposed according to the invention that between the cover (4) and the housing (1) a quench space (6) accommodating the seal (10) be formed, which has a connection to the working chamber (3) by way of at least one venting aperture (7).
