Abstract

A photoelectric cell device comprising a photosensitive body in the form of a plate provided on one side of an electrode system and housed in an insulative envelope made preferably of glass and having at least one sealed opening through which the conductors are carried of electrical power to the electrode system, characterized in that the other side of the photosensitive plate, not provided with the electrode system, is at least largely in thermal contact with part of a metal cooling plate which is electrically isolated from said first side of the body, the photosensitive body and at least the part of the cooling plate thus occupied being enclosed in an elongate tubular envelope open at least at one end and preferably in the form of a tube that fits over the body and on the cooling plate with a small degree of slack, while an additional part of the cooling plate protrudes through through at least one sealed and electrically insulated opening of the supply conductors, beyond the closure to provide heat dissipation to the environment.
