Un cable para comunicación óptica en donde un núcleo de cable que contiene al menos una guiaondas óptica, se dispone de una manera flotante dentro de un recubrimiento de fibra de vidrio reforzada, con material plástico curado, estando rodeada la cubierta, a su vez, por un recubrimiento protector, caracterizado porque el recubrimiento es un tubo (4) dividido en dos en dirección longitudinal, y porque las dos secciones (2, 3) se conectan inseparablemente entre sí.
