Abstract

In a line deflection circuit for a television receiver, having amplitude-stabilizing feedback from a tertiary winding 4 on the output transformer 1, the ratio of the part of the tertiary voltage derived from the primary winding 2 to that derived from the secondary winding 3 is made between 0À2 and 5À0. As described, the amplitude of current in valve 10 is controlled by flyback pulses induced in the tertiary winding 4, after rectification by a voltagedependent resistor 17 and smoothing by capacitor 18 so as to minimize variation in amplitude of saw-tooth current in deflection coils 13 due to change in supply voltage E. The stabilization of saw-tooth amplitude against changes in load on the e.h.t. rectifier 15 is improved by coupling the tertiary winding 4 to both the primary 2 and secondary 3, expressions being given for ratios of voltage and coupling coefficient. Third harmonic tuning is employed. The tertiary winding 4 may be manually adjusted so as to completely compensate or under-compensate for variations in deflection amplitude due to changes in e.h.t. load. The tertiary winding may comprise part of the primary and secondary windings. The deflection amplitude is adjustable by potentiometer 20. Capacitor 22 provides an S-shaped deflection waveform.
