Noise insulation material, in particular for fitting loosely into a motor vehicle, comprises a relatively massive portion including a carpet (1) and optionally a dense layer (2) arranged beneath it and a resilient portion arranged beneath the relatively massive portion. The resilient portion includes layers (3) and (4), for example layers of foamed material, having different airflow resistances.
