Abstract

A drier for web-like material is provided with a number of perforated distributing boxes for the drying medium, the boxes being disposed one behind the other in the direction of conveying of the material and substantially perpendicularly with respect to said direction, and is characterized in that one or more of the distributing boxes is provided, for the correction of the dry-content profile of the material, with one or more dampers mounted so as to be individually operable to close selected perforations. The dampers for each box 1 are formed by a resilient steel band 3, portions of which may be cammed upwards to close the perforations 2. This is effected by rotation of cylinders 4a, 4b eccentrically mounted on shafts 5 traversing the distributing box. Each cylinder actuates a U-shaped member 6 to engage the band 3, by means of a spring plate 7. Guide shoes 8 spaced along the distributing box support the steel band 3.
