Novel 13#-alkyl (having 2-18 carbon atoms) 18,19 - bis - nor - pregn - 4 - ene - 3,20 - diones are obtained by reacting a 13#-alkyl-18,19-bisnor - 4,5 - seco - pregnane - 3,5,20 - trione with a cyclizing agent, e.g. hydrochloric acid or pyrrolidine. When pyrollidine is used the corresponding 3-enamine is formed and may be hydrolysed to obtain the desired 3-one. Pharmaceutical compositions having antiandrogenic activity and containing the above compounds are employed orally, parenterally, or as a suppository.Novel 13b-alkyl (having 2-18 carbon atoms) 18,19 - bis - nor - pregn - 4 - ene - 3,20 - diones are obtained by reacting a 13b-alkyl-18,19-bis-nor - 4,5 - seco - pregnane - 3,5,20 - trione with a cyclizing agent, e.g. hydrochloric acid or pyrrolidine.
