Abstract
A process comprising mixing (a) between 25 and 85 parts by weight of a random rubbery copolymer of 1,3-butadiene and styrene, prepared by copolymerization of a major proportion of butadiene and a secondary proportion of styrene in the presence of a catalyst of lithium organ compound and a liquid solvent mixture containing between 0.005 and 50% by weight, based on the weight of said solvent mixture, of a polar organic compound selected from the group consisting of tertiary ethers, thioethers and amylenes, the remainder being from said solvent mixture a hydrocarbon liquid and inert under the reaction conditions; and (b) from 75 to 15 parts by weight, respectively, of natural rubber.
