Procedure for obtaining new pseudoindoles basically substituted for the general formula ** (See formula) ** where they represent R1 a methyl group or a phenyl residue, R2 a hydrogen or halogen atom, a lower alkyl or alkoxy group, R3 is an alkyl lower group or a phenyl radical, which may optionally be substituted by halogen atoms or lower alkyl or alkoxy groups, R4 a lower alkyl or alkenyl moiety R5 is a lower alkyl radical which may optionally be substituted by a cycloalkyl radical, which in turn may contain, if desired, lower alkyl or alkoxy groups, a straight or branched chain alkenyl radical optionally substituted by halogen, aralkyl residue or, together with R 4 and the nitrogen atom, a saturated or partially saturated heterocyclic ring, which may optionally be interrupted by another heteroatom and/or may be substituted by a lower alkyl residue or a phenyl radical, which optionally may contain hydroxyl groups, halogen atoms or lower alkyl or alkoxy groups; A bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 2-4 carbon atoms, as well as its acid addition salts, characterized by cyclizing a phenylhydrazone of the formula ** (See formula) ** wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.5 and A have the indicated meanings, in the presence of a condensation medium which causes separation of ammonia, and the compound obtained is converted, optionally by known methods, into an acid addition salt with a physiologically tolerable inorganic or organic acid.
