Abstract
In connecting a flowline 56 to an underwater installation such as a support structure 22 having a wellhead 23, a guide frame 35 located above the surface 11 of the water and at a vessel 12 has secured thereto a running string 19 which extends downwardly and carries a latching tool 39, a drawline 135 attached by a pulling tool 137 to the flowline 56 carried on a barge 55 being threaded through an alignment tube 44 and connected to the head 43 of the tube by a pulling tool 110. The frame 35 is lowered from the vessel 12 so that guides 36 on the frame cooperate with posts 26, 27 whereby the tube 44 is aligned with, seated on, and locked by a fitting 49 to a block 46. A tool carried by a line passed down the string 19 locks on to the tool 110 whereby the drawline is pulled upwardly through the string and in turn pulls the flowline from the barge 55 down to the installation. The flowline pulling tool 137 and flowline head 57 enter the tube 44, the tool parting from the head to pass up the string 19 and the head being aligned and locked to the tube head 43. Finally, the frame is freed from the installation and removed up to the vessel.
