Abstract

In experimental apparatus for studying the effects of different surface coverings in a cryostat, the level of liquefied gas in the cryostat 1 is measured by upper and lower thermistors 9, 10. A D. C. amplifier 13 responsive to the resistance of the thermistors is used to operate a timer 21 and to connect the gas outlet 20 to a flowmeter 22 whilst the liquid is falling from one level to the other.
