Abstract

A drinking device particularly for poultry comprises a water supply pipe 1 having at least one tubular spigot 5 passing through apertures 3, 4 in the wall thereof, the spigot having an inlet opening 9 for water in its side wall and being provided with a valve operable by livestock to control the supply of water from the spigot. As shown in Fig. 2 a ball valve 13 is provided and the upper end of the spigot is closed by a tapered nut 7. In Fig. 5 the lower end 15 of the spigot is closed by a disc 17 which is tiltable with respect to the valve seat 26, the projecting rod 19 serving as a lever arm. The valve is normally held closed by means of spring loaded rod 21.
