Abstract
To minimise effects of explosion the top 1 of a concrete electrostatic precipitator is made of strip-shaped concrete slabs 3, Fig. 1, arranged side-by-side in two layers with the intervening space containing heat insulating material, e.g. glass wool 4. The top is held in position by a sheet metal covering 7 and pressed tightly onto concrete beams 2, Fig. 5, roof girders 5, Fig. 4, and walls 6, Fig. 3, without a rigid connection. As described, steel angle sections 8 are bolted at 10 to the walls with seals 9 interposed. Thus one flange of the angle section 8 passes the panel 7 (which may be formed of individual strips) on to the underlying slab 3 a seal 11 being interposed. To seal at the sides of the roof girders 5, a steel U-section, Fig. 5, is weighted by a stone 13, which serves as support and base for the upper slabs 3, and with the interposition of seals 14, bears down on the ends of the metal strip panels 7.
