Abstract

In a bale tie comprising a metal strap, the ends 10 and 11 of which are formed with pairs of stepped incisions 15, the central web 16 between each pair of incisions being bent out of the plane of the tie so that the webs 16 of one end are engageable between the incisions of the Other when the ends are superimposed, either the webs 16 of one end 10 are formed with lateral projections 19 at their wider ends and/or the other end 11 has its side webs 17 (i.e. the portions between each incision and the adjacent longitudinal edge of the tie) formed at their wider ends with projections 19, so that the webs 16 of one end have to be snapped between the incisions of the other to fasten the tie. Projections 19 may be arcuate in form. The side webs 17 are also bent out of the plane of the tie to lie on the opposite side of this plane to the webs 16. The webs 16 may be bent so that each is formed with a transversely extending ridge.
