Abstract

A spray device of the type having a propellant gas reservoir 5 mounted within a container 1 for a liquid or powder comprises a double low-pressure obturator having a flexible annular washer 47 supported between members 4 and 62 and pierced by the body 31 of an actuator head 27, the inner periphery of the washer engaging an annular throttling recess 89 in the body 31 and one side of the washer being applied elastically to a collar (55) Figs. 3-5 (not shown) on the member 62 in the rest position. The collar (55) acts as a stop to prevent communication between the atmosphere and the container 1 in the next position and is arranged at a distance from a bore 84 in the member 62 so that the inner lip (88), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) of the washer may be freely deformed. When the actuator is depressed, Fig. 4, the lip (88) is forced downwardly by the upper surface of the recess 89 enabling a riser tube 24 to communicate with a convergent-divergent nozzle 29 via a duct 43 and putting the atmosphere in communication with the container I via an annular chamber 99 and passages 97, 111, and 112. The lower surface of the washer is supported by an annular projection (51) on the member 4. The gas is released through a high pressure obturator 7 including a valve 11 and a flexible washer 13. The spray material enters the air stream in the nozzle through radial ducts 41.
