Abstract

Apparatus for turning articles, especially crates 3 comprises, as shown in Fig. 1, a pipe 1 with two helically coiled guide ledges 2. Pressure of succeeding crates (not shown) forces the crate 3 through the pipe 1, the ledges 2 causing the crate 3 to rotate 180 degrees about the longitudinal direction of the pipe 1. As shown in Fig. 3 (plan view) crates 3 are turned through two successive 90 degree turns by guide ledges 2, 21 helically arranged -so as to describe a sector of approximately 90 degrees in the periphery of the pipe. The pitch of the ledges 2, 21 may be adjusted using slots 10.
