Abstract

Foamed polyurethane elastomer has a continuous surface of microcells, the surface cells being invisible to the naked eye, while the internal structure is integral with surface cell structure. - The surface structure pref. consists of a skin with a thickness of 1-3 mm., and consists of compact elastomer with a density of 900 g/l. The internal structure pref. has a density of 60 g/l. The transition between the internal structure and the continuous surface skin is pref. sharp and completely differentiated. The foamed polyurethane elastomer is pref. produced by the one-shut method, with the aid of a liquid halogen-contng. blowing agent having a b.p. below 50 deg.C. - The products have an internal flexible foam structure of low density, and an integrally formed continuous surface of higher density. The transition between the internal structure and the continuous surface skin is very sharp.
