Abstract

1, 168, 876. Compressors silencing gaseous flow. DANFOSS A/S. Nov. 13, 1967 [Nov. 18, 1966], No.51523/67. Headings FIB and FIN. A compressor cylinder housing is fabricated from sheet metal components brazed or soldered together, the components comprising two parallel side walls 1, 4 provided with respective trough portions 9, 10 between which is disposed the compressor cylinder 12, and a band 15 secured by its ends 13, 14 to the cylinder 12 between the portions 9, 10, the part of the band intermediate its ends forming a transverse wall separating the parallel walls 1, 4. Radially extending bends 16, 17, 18 formed in the band 15 are attached to a circumferential wall 2 integral with the wall 1, thereby to define four suction silencer chambers 24-27. The chambers communicate with the exterior through bores 28 in the side wall 1, which bores open into recesses 30 formed in a plate 29 covering the wall 1. The recesses are connected to an ante-chamber 31 leading to the exterior through a bore 33. In a modification Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) an intermediate band (46) is disposed between the band 15 and the wall 2, the band 15 being provided with inlets to certain of the surrounding silencer chambers which are interconnected by pipes (53-56) supported by the intermediate band (46).
