Abstract

A head for smoothing and hardening the surfaces of bodies of revolution comprises a holder 1 which can be clamped in a machine tool, such as a lathe or boring machine, and a fork member 2 which carries parallel pressure rollers 3 and a smoothing and hardening element 4, the fork member being angularly adjustable on the holder to enable the element to slide as well as rotate along the surface of the body to be treated.
