Abstract

A pressurized fluid distribution system for controlling a fluid pressure brake characterized in that it comprises an outlet conduit capable of being connected to a brake cylinder, a pressure control device that is movable in response to the difference between the pressure in a pressure control line and a control pressure for connecting an auxiliary reservoir of fluid under pressure to the outlet conduit for application of the brake and for connecting said outlet conduit to the exhaust to loosen the brake, and valve means for commutation having a gradual discharge setting in which the control pressure is the pressure in a pressurized fluid control reservoir and the outlet conduit is connected to a pressurized fluid actuator that opposes the movement of control device towards its condition in which the brake is applied, and a direct discharge setting in which the control pressure is the pressure in the auxiliary reservoir and the the actuator is inoperative.
