Abstract
The invention comprises the cis or trans compounds of formula wherein n is 1 or 2, X is H or Cl at least one X being Cl and #and #1 which may be the same or different are phenyl, methylphenyl, chlorophenyl, benzyl, chlorobenzyl or naphthyl. The compounds are used in pesticidal compositions (see Division A5). They are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding bis-(arylmercapto)-ethylenes. In examples, the preparation of cis- and trans-1,2-dichloro-bis-(p-tolylsulphinyl) ethylene, cis- and trans-1,2-dichloro-1- (p - tolylsulphinyl) - 2 - (p - tolylsulphonyl)- ethylene is described.
