Abstract
Fe-base melt 76 which has been degassed (see Division C7) is forced from a ladle 10 by compressed air up into a slab mould 74 of graphite blocks 78-81 with a gate 88 and a riser 84. A layer of slag 92 which accumulates during degassing protects the melt 76 when the ladle 10 is transferred to the pressure tank 60.
