Abstract

An exhaust casing of a low-pressure steam turbine comprises a base frame divided into upper and lower parts 1a, 1b, respectively, by a horizontal plane passing through the turbine axis, the upper part 1a being attached to a steam retaining shell 2 and the lower part 1b to an exhaust conduit 3. The lower frame part 1b has supports 9 for the stator blade carrier 10 of the turbine, the part 1b itself resting on the foundation 4. Bearings 7 support the rotor shaft 5 and are in turn attached to the lower frame part 1b The latter is fixed to the foundation at only four locations, namely in the regions of bearings 7 and the supports 9 of blade carrier 10. Sealing glands 8 are provided where the shafts passes through frame parts 1a, 1b. The latter parts may additionally be split in vertical planes to facilitate transportation and assembly.
