Abstract

Apparatus for enclosing a compressed bundle A1 of articles in plastics sheeting 1 comprises a driven sheeting supply roller 2, welding and severing bars 7, 8, and a bundle compressing tongue 9 that is removable from between the sheeting 1 and bundle A1 after the welding operation. In the embodiment described, a bundle of newspapers A is transported to a sealing position A1 by conveyer belts 10, 20, the plastics sheeting 1 being supported by a reciprocatable roller 4. On sealing, the welded seam is cut longitudinally. A wrapped bundle may pass shrinkage devices (not further disclosed) to tighten the loose ends of the sheeting 1.
