Abstract

Coatings, e.g. to glass or concrete surfaces, comprise epoxy resins cured with a reaction product of a polyamine or polyamidoamine and a monoisocyanate. The curing agent may additionally comprise free polyamine or polyamidoamine which may be the same or different from that used to form the reaction product. The monoisocyanate may be prepared by reacting 1 mol of a monohydroxyl compound, e.g. ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, with 1 mol of a diisocyanate, e.g. tolylene diisocyanate. A typical curing agent is prepared by reacting isophenone diamine with such a diisocyanate/monohydroxyl compound product. The compositions cure at room temperature. A post-cure, e.g. 2 hours at 100 C may be applied.
