Abstract

A valve-discharge flushing cistern has an inlet valve IV from which water passes both down through a tube HT and also through a second tube RFT into a channel in an elongate member LV. whch supports a float. FL and is pivoted at one end to a rod RL which is pivoted at RLX on the inlet valve body. The discharge valve FV can be operated either by an upper knob TNU or a lower knob TNL, in each case via a three-armed pivoted member TF. The inlet valve is opened by rotation of a pivoted rod PG caused via teeth RLT on rod RL as the float drops. The float FL has an upper apertured chamber BL which causes an extra upthrust on the member LV to close the inlet valve when the water level in the cistern has reached the required level. Easily releasable plastics catches are provided to retain all the pivot pins e.g. LVX in place, and the lower edge LE of the cistern is rounded to quieten the flow of water from tube HT into the cistern.
