Abstract

A racing game is disclosed in which figures 11, horses say, are propelled along a track in simulation of a race. The results of each race is predetermined electrically as follows:- With the runners at the winning end' of the track an electrical return and selection apparatus is activated, this firstly associates each runner with one of a set of odds and displays this, secondly a winner is selected in such a manner that the chances of a particular winner being chosen are related to the odds associated with it, and finally the runners are returned to the starting end of the track The runners 11 are mounted on carriages 8 which are propelled along the track by an electrical motor D via a system of pulleys 7 and 9, one system being provided for each runner. The runners are made to proceed in "fits" and "starts" by means of an electromagnetically operated clutch mechanism, on pulleys 7, until they have traversed about threequarters of the track, whereupon the switch M is thrown and the clutch on the pulley 7 propelling the preselected winner is released to allow the preselected winner to proceed smoothly and hence win.
