Abstract

Capacitors are produced by dividing up a parent capacitor comprising electrode and dielectric material stacked or wound on to a drum, and also including floating metal layers. As shown, dielectric foils 1 and 4 each have two metallized layers thereon and are slightly offset, layers 3 extending to opposite foil edges and floating layers 5 each overlapping two metallized layers on the neighbouring foil to form three series-connected capacitors.
