Abstract
A revetment is constructed by excavating the ground to form aligned trench-sections, filling each of these sections with bentonite mud after placing a reinforcing mesh 17 at the bottom, lowering a pre-cast concrete-panel 3 into close proximity with the mesh, filling holes 7 containing the upper ends of reinforcing wires 8 with a cement or syntheticresin binder and providing a layer 21 thereof, lowering a further panel 3a so that reinforcing wires 8a therein enter the holes, and charging the bottom of the each trench section with concrete until the foot of the panel 3 is immersed therein the concrete being fed through a hose 22 inserted through passages 5, 5a in the panels. The ground on one side of the wall is subsequently excavated to a level 18. Holes 9 in each panel facilitate lifting and lowering by cables 19. Grooves 6 co-operate with columns 10 while the panels are being lowered, these columns being removed thereafter and the grooves filled with concrete to join laterally adjacent panels. Alternatively, adjacent panels have overlapping rabbeted ends, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), with a gap therebetween that is filled with concrete through an injection tube. The upper and lower panels may be coupled to each other by at least one cable, Fig. 6 (not shown). (For Figures see next column)
