Abstract
An improved method for obtaining a polyurethane product, which is a film or a laminate, which consists of coating a continuous and mobile web, having a release surface, with a solvent-free polyurethane composition, and curing the film of polyurethane resulting by heating and removing said film from the release surface of the aforementioned weft, or by partially curing the resultant polyurethane film by heating, by contacting the partially cured film, under pressure, with a substrate to which it is to be laminated, heating the film and the substrate to complete the curing of the aforesaid film and then removing the laminate thus formed from the release surface of the aforesaid screen; characterized in that the said polyurethane composition is formed immediately prior to said coating step by mixing, in the presence of a catalyst for the crosslinking of the polyurethane resins, equivalent material quantities of: (I) a liquid prepolymer component having groups of isocyanate reactants, and which is made by reacting an excess of an aromatic diisocyanate with a glycol, at least, or with a glycol ether which forms a liquid product with said diisocyanate; with (II) a liquid polyol component having reactive hydroxy groups, and which is prepared by reacting an aromatic diisocyanate with an excess of a mixture of at least one diol and at least one triol.
